We are seeking an Anglican priest with liturgical expertise, a deep love of sacred music, and strong administrative skills to join our Liturgy Department as Succentor.
About the role
As Succentor, you will:
- lead and support worship – preaching and presiding at services, officiating at Morning and Evening Prayer and (singing and leading prayers) at Mattins and Evensong
- plan and deliver special services – working closely with individuals across the Liturgy, Worship and Special Events Directorate, and external organisations to ensure meaningful worship.
- oversee liturgical administration – oversight of the production of the monthly service schedules, hymn selection, and licensing for musical content.
- provide pastoral care – supporting the our worshipping community, including choristers, the Vicars Choral and music department members.
- foster excellence in music and liturgy – Support the work of the Artistic Director of Choral Partnerships, oversee the visits of other choirs when the Cathedral Choir is not available, ensuring continuity of sung services and a good standard of musical performance.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- is an ordained Anglican priest with experience in leading choral worship in a cathedral or parish setting
- has a strong understanding of liturgy and hymnody, with a passion for cathedral worship
- can sing confidently and lead worship in a way that inspires and engages
- has excellent organisational and administrative skills, with experience in planning services and coordinating teams.
- is pastorally sensitive and able to build relationships with a wide range of people.

- adhere to all safeguarding policies and complete relevant safeguarding training
- undergo an enhanced DBS check prior to appointment
- promote a culture of safeguarding within the Cathedral community.
