Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, you are welcome to join us for worship.
On Sunday 18th September the services are:
8am | Eucharist |
8.45am | Morning Prayer |
11.15am | Requiem Eucharist |
3pm | Evensong |
4.30pm | Organ Recital |
5.30pm | Eucharist |
On Monday 19th September, the Cathedral will be open all day at the West End only, for private prayer. Or you can join us for worship at:
7.30am | Morning Prayer |
8.00am | Holy Communion |
5pm | Evening Prayer |
Please note there will be no 12.30pm Eucharist on Monday 19th September

General Information
Will there be events at St Paul’s in the coming days to mark the passing of Her Majesty the Queen?
On Friday 9th September, a service of Prayer and Reflection on the death of Her Majesty The Queen was held at the Cathedral, attended by 2,000 members of the public. The service was broadcast on BBC1, which you can view on BBC iPlayer.
Further details about events taking place elsewhere to mark the passing of Her Majesty The Queen will be announced by the Royal Household in due course. Check the British Monarchy website and the Government website for more information about events in the coming days.
Is the State Funeral happening at St Paul’s?
The State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September 2022 at 11.00am. The Queen will Lie-in-State in Westminster Hall for four days, to allow the public to pay their respects. Detailed information on this and events taking place in the coming days can be found on the British Monarchy website.
What will happen at St Paul's on the day of the State Funeral?
The West end of the Cathedral will be open for private prayer. Morning Prayer at 7.30am and Eucharist at 8.00am will take place as usual, but there will be no 12.30pm Eucharist. The Cathedral bells will be rung (muffled) before and after Her Majesty The Queen’s Funeral, and Evening Prayer will be said at the West end of the Cathedral at 5.00pm.
Will there be a book of condolence at St Paul’s?
Yes, there will be Books of Condolence available to sign at the Cathedral until 2.30pm on Sunday 18th September. Please note that they will not be available to sign during weekday evening services (Evensong or Evening Prayer) or during the Requiem Eucharist at 11.15am and 3.00pm Choral Evensong on Sunday. There is an online Book of Condolence is available on the Church of England website or the British Monarchy website.
Can I lay flowers at the Cathedral?
No. It is not possible to lay flowers or tributes inside or outside the Cathedral before, during or after the service. There is a dedicated space for flowers and tributes at Green Park near Buckingham Palace, SW1A 1AA.
