Collections Interpretation Manager
The Collections Interpretation Manager is a new role within the Collections Department, that manages the use and care of our collections, and information about our history (Library, archives and objects) to unlock their potential.
The role holder will be responsible for overseeing the development of collections-based interpretation, as well as working with colleagues from across the Cathedral to ensure programming for a range of audiences. They will contribute to various projects and layers of interpretation within the building, including its digital platforms; producing displays, interpretive installations, activities and events. They will be expected to manage a range of priorities using excellent organisational skills, with the purpose of engaging and inspiring the public by our historical treasure trove of over 1,400 years of stories to tell.
We are looking for a creative individual with:
- sound communication and project management skills
- experience leading historic collections or interpretation/engagement activity in a heritage environment
- a good knowledge of British history (ideally including architectural, social, political or ecclesiastical history).
The successful applicant will also be expected to share in our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
