The chapel of the Order of St Michael and St George is within the Cathedral and members of the Order will join the congregation for this special Evensong which will include a sermon.
This meditative and reflective service gives space to pause for a moment as the day draws to a close. Evensong also gives visitors and worshippers the opportunity to experience the incredible voices of our Cathedral choir, who perform different, specially-selected choral works as part of each service.
What can I expect?
This service is led by the choir, who sing responses, canticles, an anthem, and the psalms set for the day on our behalf, allowing us to experience the beauty of the music in this iconic setting. There are some readings from the Bible, and prayers are said for the Church, the World and ourselves.
There is occasionally a sermon on a feast day, and a hymn may be sung. You do not have to familiar with the service – when you enter, you can pick up an easy-to-follow order of service, which will guide you through each part. Visit our guidance on attending services at St Paul's for more information on what to expect.
