In Pope Francis's 2015 encyclical on the environment, Laudato Si', he writes that 'The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains: everything is, as it were, a caress of God.'
How can art help us to rediscover our relationship with creation, so that we begin to cherish anew the capacity of nature to speak to us of God's incarnate and creative love? We consider our changing relationship to the natural world through art, and ask how we might rediscover a spirituality of beauty, resistance and hope through reflection on creation as God's great unfolding work of art.
