All are welcome to attend our services at St Paul’s, no matter what you believe. With around thirty taking place each week, there are plenty to choose from.

Our regular services, such as Evensong, are free of charge, and ticketed services are listed in our service calendar.

You do not have to be a Christian or a practising member of the Church of England to come to worship. You can simply listen, or join in with us as much as you are able to do. Our hope for you is that you may encounter and be transformed by the presence of God in Jesus Christ, here in St Paul’s Cathedral. However, we understand that people join us for many reasons – including to experience the sound of our world-famous choir.

Before you arrive 

For most services, you do not need book – you can just turn up as you are. Although many people like to dress smartly to attend church, there is no requirement to do so: please simply wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for a place of worship.

The main entrance to the Cathedral is up a flight of stairs, but there is also step-free access for those who need it (see our map for the location of our accessible entrance or visit our Accessibility page). All people arriving at the Cathedral will pass through a security check, where our security team will check bags and ensure that people don’t bring in large items of luggage.

Through the doors

Most of our services happen under the Dome, and seating is generally unreserved. There are typically two places to sit: under the Dome, or in the Nave. Most people tend to join us under the Dome, as this is closer to the service, however sitting in the Nave gives you more opportunity to leave a service without disturbing those around you.

At the top of the Nave, a steward or wandsman will greet you and can give you an order of service booklet, which explains what will happen in the service.

At some services there may be an opportunity to sit in the Quire area, and this will be made clear by an announcement made prior to the start of the service.

Once you have found your seat, you are asked to remain in your seat and not to wander around the Cathedral - this is in order to maintain a prayerful atmosphere as people around you prepare to worship.  It is for this reason that photography and filming are not permitted during services.
