Sacred Soundscapes: A Service of Prayer and Reflection
The evening will close with a reflective service under the Dome, from 8.30-9.15pm, which offers a space to pause and reflect, in the light of faith, on the futility of war.
This inclusive service will feature spoken word, scripture, collaged sound, music, prayer and silence and has been prepared by creatives Christine Checinska and Gary Stewart, in collaboration with the Cathedral. This service is a creative response to the Monument to the Colonial Forces who fought in the South African War, sculpted by Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, and situated in the South Transept. The service will include performances from Gospel Singer Patrice Campbell and Cellist Kate Shortt.
Please note that only the Cathedral floor will be open. There is no access to the Galleries, Crypt and shop. The last entry for the late opening will be 7.30pm.
